TRANSPORTATION
Bay Area transportation agencies are helping us have a happy and safe New Year by offering extended services:
Muni
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will offer free rides on New Year's Eve from 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 through 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1. Muni Metro service between West Portal and Embarcadero stations extended to 4 a.m. and until 2:15 a.m. to 4th and King streets.
Caltrain
The final New Year's train will depart from the 4th and King Street Station at 2:15 a.m. on Jan. 1 or earlier if the train is at capacity. All Caltrain and SamTrans service will be free after 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve. Customer Service 1 (800) 660-4287.
VTA
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is offering free rides on Bus and Light Rail on New Year's Eve between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. On Wednesday, January 1, 2014 all VTA service will be free. VTA Customer Service (408) 321-2300.
BART
BART will run until 3 am on New Year's Eve. After midnight, trains will run every 20 minutes (with extra trains standing by in downtown San Francisco after the fireworks show).
