Americans expect to leave an average of almost $177,000 to their heirs.
That may seem like a lot, but Americans were the least likely to leave any money behind -- only about 56 percent compared to the worldwide average of 69 percent.
According to the HSBC survey, Australian's are the most generous, leaving an average of $502,000. Singapore came in second at $371,000. And in third is Great Britain with $284,000.
The U.S. came in sixth.
