At about 2 p.m. on Monday, a home invasion robbery occurred at an apartment in the 300 block of C Street near Orange Memorial Park, according to police.
Officers said that a 20-year-old woman and her 2-year-old child were inside the apartment when a man, dressed all in black, climbed through a second-story balcony window and entered their home.
The suspect struck the woman with a blunt object and ordered her to bind her wrists and cover her child's mouth with tape, police said.
According to officers, the suspect seemed to be searching for something specific, but appeared to leave the apartment empty-handed.
After the suspect fled, the woman was able to free herself and call 911. Police arrived at the home and searched the area, but were unable to locate a suspect, officers said.
According to police, the suspect is described as a white man, standing about 6 feet tall with a slender build and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black beanie, a black sweater, and faded black jeans. He was also seen holding a change of clothes that included a red shirt.
Police said the suspect was last seen fleeing south on Centennial Trail toward Spruce Avenue.
