Officers responded to a home in the 8100 block of Kelton Drive at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after a family returned home and found a woman dead in a bedroom, according to police. The family noticed their son, 21-year-old Ernesto Rodriguez, was missing from the home.
The victim, 21-year-old Alma Roque Ortega, does not live with Rodriguez. Police said Rodriguez was restrained from contacting Ortega by a restraining order issued to him from San Benito County in January.
The murder is the third in Gilroy this year.
