Fundraiser launched for historic Doggie Diner heads

SAN FRANCISCO

One Bay Area man rescued the giant dog heads to keep them from being thrown away.

The bowtied dogs were once used in parades and events around the Bay Area.

But now the dogs have suffered corrosion, worn-down fiberglass and a rickety trailer.

The owner and his friends are trying to raise $50,000 on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter to restore the dogs to their former glory and expand public knowledge of their local history.
