Campus police at San Jose State University are now warning female students to be on alert after two assaults over the weekend.

Both took place on campus Saturday night. Police say a man on a bike groped a woman around 7 p.m. outside the event and recreation center. The second attack happened about 9:20 p.m. near the Hoover Hall dorm.

Witnesses say the attacker was a white man in his 20s with a mustache, wearing a black hoodie and pants. He left the scene of both incidents riding on a bicycle.

Many students learned about the assaults through text messages sent by the university.

Students are encouraged to call for a campus police escort at night.

The victims, who are students, were not harmed.
