Speier has been doing her research, which included spending a night in a Redwood City homeless shelter last Friday. The San Francisco Chronicle reports the Democrat from Hillsborough says she met people at the shelter who had long careers before losing their jobs.
Speier says every member of congress should meet the homeless. So they could appreciate who they are talking about, instead of just rattling off numbers about them.
