Yosemite plan includes recreational activities

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif.

Details were released Friday by the National Park Service after receiving thousands of comments from the public who want to preserve access.

While tourists can still bike and raft, the rental facilities will be moved farther away from the Merced River, which received congressional "wild and scenic" designation in 1987.

Park officials say the number of visitors to Yosemite Valley will be limited to 18,710 a day, similar to traffic seen in the last several years. The park also plans to ease congestion by adding shuttle buses and improving traffic flow.
