Golden State Warriors, MakerBot give Bay Area students 3D printer

Only instead of basketball, it's education.

Warrior players along with companies MakerBot and America Makes presented students at Oakland High School with a brand new 3D printer.

The printers make a three-dimensional solid object from a digital model.

The Warriors say it's all about empowering the next generation.

"I hope it gives you guys a new sense of creativity. I hope you guys can use the innovation that you guys have. Instead of writing it down, instead of drawing on paper, do it on the screen, build it yourself and have a lot of fun," Golden State Warriors Forward Harrison Barnes said.

MakerBot is the global leader in 3D desktop printing and America Makes is one of the manufacturing institutes supported by President Obama.
