Los Gatos teen gets Bryan Cranston's help in promposal

LOS GATOS, Calif.

Promposals are the over-the-top way to ask that special someone to the biggest event of the season.

"There is a sense of wanting to out-do other kids. These promposals inspire creativity and thoughtfulness," said Betsy Fast, Seventeen Magazine's digital director.

Teens are going all out to plan epic stunts to get their dates to say yes by serenading, twerking and other means.

Stefan Montana from Los Gatos refused to be outdone, decided to recruit Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston. Who would have thought the ruthless "Walter White" could create so much chemistry outside the lab?

Cranston sent a video message saying "Maddie, if you don't go to the prom with Stefan, then maybe your best course of action would be to tread lightly."

Montana followed up the message with the question, "Maddie will you go to prom with me?"

How can a girl say no to that?

Montana: "I don't think there's any saying no to Walter White...and if she did say no, then..."
Maddie Abene: "He would kill Me. So it was a threat, but a kind threat."

Still as Abene waits for her date to arrive Saturday night, thankfully White won't be the guy at the door.

ABC7 News caught up with Abene as she picked up her prom dress from Trudy's in Campbell. She was making sure everything fit just right for the big night this weekend. She told us that she was so caught up in the promposal she almost forgot to give Montana an answer. Trudy's gave her the dress she picked out for free.
