Deputies with the Marshals Service Bay Area Task Force on Monday arrested a 17-year-old boy in Modesto who was wanted in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month, Marshals Deputy Joe Palmer said.
That suspect has not been identified and Palmer could not confirm which shooting he was wanted in connection with.
As the deputies were returning, they stopped in Stockton at an address known to be associated with Mychal Wilson, 24, and spotted him there, Palmer said. He was placed under surveillance and arrested later that day.
Wilson is a suspect in the fatal shooting of Shamarr Owens in the 900 block of 43rd Street near Market Street at about 5:30 p.m. on March 28, Oakland police Capt. Anthony Toribio said today.
Owens, an Emeryville resident, was shot along with another victim who was critically injured. Both victims were taken to a hospital, where Owens died later that evening, according to police.
Wilson is being held in Santa Rita Jail in Dublin and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon for an arraignment, according to jail records.
Toribio said today that the investigation is still active and authorities are searching for at least one other suspect in the case.
Any witnesses or anyone with information about the shooting has been asked to contact the Oakland police homicide section at (510) 238-3821 or (510) 777-3333.
