SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- A Santa Clara University student accused of stabbing his roommate made his first court appearance on Thursday.

ABC7 News was in Santa Clara County Superior Court when 19-year-old Dillon Kim was arraigned on attempted murder charges.

Kim is accused of stabbing his roommate in the throat, neck and shoulder.

The roommate managed to escape and is expected to recover.

Police say Kim slashed his own throat right before he was arrested.

He is being held without bail in Santa Clara County Jail.
