SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- BART announced Tuesday it will run extra trains this Sunday, so people can get into San Francisco for the annual Bay to Breakers race.

The special Sunday schedule starts at 6.a.m., when trains will begin running in 20 minute intervals.

To avoid congestion, BART recommends East Bay passengers get off at San Francisco's Embarcadero Station, while Peninsula riders are advised to off-board at the Montgomery Station.

Both are pretty close to the starting line at Howard and Spear streets.

The race begins at 8 a.m.
