San Francisco Police are stepping up patrols for this weekend's New Year's Eve fireworks show along the Embarcadero.

The fireworks should be fantastic and police say they will do all they can to make them safe. They are working with federal and state officials to create a safety plan for New Year's Eve. They will activate their emergency operations center -- that's where they will make sure all agencies are communicating with each other and push out any necessary information to the public. Out on the streets you will see more officers on patrol.

"It's all hands on deck. Peoples' discretionary time off has been cancelled, and we're just having anyone who's available is going to be out," said Ofc. Robert Rueca, San Francisco Police Dept. spokesperson.

According to a joint Special Event Threat Assessment Report obtained by ABC7 News, federal officials say there is no credible threat associated with the city's New Year's Eve celebrations.

City officials have set up a dedicated text alert line for New Year's Eve. By texting NYESF17 to 888 777 -- you'll be enrolled to receive any critical safety information relating to this year's celebration in San Francisco.
