Palo Alto company Palantir rents public park for over 2 weeks, sparks controversy
Palo Alto company Palantir rented a field at Cubberly Community Center for two-and-a-half weeks. Some say corporate party has no place at a public park.

PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- Some people in Palo Alto are RSVPing "no" to a corporate party in a city park.

City leaders rented a sports field to a local company for a two-and-a-half week long corporate event. The decision is not sitting well with everyone in the area.

The city of Palo Alto says data-mining company Palantir asked for a venue for its corporate event and the city agreed to rent out the synthetic turf field at Cubberley Park.

They paid $41,000 in rental fees.

Some say the park is not for sale.
