1 killed after CHP chase ends in San Jose
Police have identified a man who was killed after the CHP said he led them on a chase in the South Bay.

SAN JOSE (KGO) -- A CHP pursuit topping 120 miles-per-hour ended in a violent crash in San Jose. The male driver of a white Honda has died at the hospital and a female passenger has minor injuries.

The chase started in Gilroy just before 3:30 a.m. The CHP said the suspect vehicle was attempting to sideswipe vehicles on freeways in San Jose. The vehicle exited the southbound Winchester Boulevard off-ramp of I-280. The car went through a fence, rolled over a couple of times and crashed into a tree.

A CHP vehicle was also damaged at the end of the pursuit. A father and son team had minor injuries after they lost control coming off the Winchester Boulevard exit.

The suspect's car was reported stolen out of Los Banos.

The passenger was identified as an 18-year-old woman from Los Banos. The driver has been identified as 21 year old Daniel Avalos of San Jose.
