PIKEVILLE, Ky. (KGO) -- A Kentucky college is creating a new opportunity for video game lovers hoping to make a career of their passion.
Now, they can be student athletes.
The University of Pikeville is making video games an official sport and will offer scholarships to gamers starting this fall.
A graduate has stepped up to be a coach for those who play "League of Legends," an online battle arena game.
Formal competition play will start during fall semester.
