Concord now allows you to text 911 dispatchers
Concord police dispatchers can now receive text messages from cellphone users.

CONCORD (KGO) -- For the first time, cell phone users in Concord can text to receive help from 911.

When texting 911, Concord police wants you to provide your exact location and tell them what kind of help you need.

Officials say don't send pictures, videos, or emojis.

Calling 911 is still the fastest way to get help.
