SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A Los Gatos couple will spend a long time in state prison after pleading no contest to molesting their adopted son from Russia.

The ABC7 News I-Team broke the story last year. It began with a tip from inside the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department. The source complained a therapist reported the abuse in 2012 but investigators sat on the case for four years.

But now, the case is finally over. Wealthy advertising executive Ralph Melvin Flynn received a 24-year state prison sentence. His tech executive wife Carolyn has received 12 years in prison for molesting their adopted son from Russia.

Oanh Tran is the Santa Clara County prosecutor on the case. She says Flynn began abusing Denis shortly after he arrived from Russia at the age of 9 and that Carolyn joined in after the boy turned 15.

Denis spoke with ABC7 News last year. "As I told my truth, I got more strength and integrity," he said.

And now, prosecutor Tran says she's satisfied with the outcome of the case.
