Crews working to restore gas service in Moraga after sinkhole causes gas main break

MORAGA, Calif. (KGO) -- PG&E crews are working to restore service to thousands of residents Monday after a traffic pole fell into sinkhole, causing a gas main break to rupture in Moraga.

Nearly 200 PG&E workers are going house to house in Moraga to reconnect the gas at 2,500 homes and businesses.

The gas had to be shut off after a sinkhole opened up at Center Street and Rheem Boulevard, severing a four-inch line. "It's a little more complicated to turn them back on, you have to go in the house, turn the meter on then visit each gas appliance they have," PG&E spokesperson Denny Boyles said.
