ANDALUSIA, ILLINOIS (KGO) -- Man's best friend comes to the rescue in Illinois. A dog helped save another dog who was trapped in icy water.
A black lab pulled from the water was shivering, but is okay. It was taken into custody by animal control. The persistent barks from another dog at a water and sewage treatment plant alerted a worker to the problem. Several employees used a flat-bottomed boat and rope to rescue the struggling animal.
"The one black dog was running around and tried to get my attention. I think he was trying to tell me -- he was saving his friend. I looked over in this hole over here and the other dog was in the water trying to get out," said Joe Dungan.
Both dogs wore collars, but no tags. Animal control is trying to find the owner of the rescued dog the other one ran off and hasn't been found.
