East Bay residents cut water usage during drought by 40 percent in June

Concord, Calif. (KGO) -- Officials say East Bay water users did a great job of conserving water last month.

The Contra Costa Water District reports people cut their usage by 40 percent in June. That's by far the best month of conservation since Gov. Jerry Brown declared a drought emergency early last year.

And that's despite the fact that temperatures in June were an average of five degrees higher than two years ago. And that usually has a lot to do with how much water we use.
