FRESNO, Calif. -- Students at a Fresno County school are hoping to bring one of Hollywood's brightest stars to the Central Valley.

Kerman High School is pushing a big social media campaign to get Tom Hanks to come be part of their homecoming celebration. The theme of their homecoming is "Tom Hanks Movies" with each class designing a float from one of his popular films.

Students say they wanted to do something different for homecoming this year. And this effort to bring the a-list actor to Kerman has brought the community closer.

So far, Tom Hanks hasn't responded to the social media campaign. But students are hopeful he will acknowledge Kerman High School or extend a visit to their campus.

Kerman High School's homecoming is October 9th.
