Day of the Dead tops weekend events in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- We've partnered with the team at Hoodline - the hyperlocal neighborhood website - to bring you what's new and happening this weekend in San Francisco.

We all want our children to have a safe and beautiful place to play, so this weekend help celebrate the grand re-opening of the Charles Drew Elementary Schoolyard where there will be activities for the whole neighborhood, lunch and a raffle.

Or you can check out Wharf Fest, which is one of San Francisco's favorite free waterfront festivals. The street fair runs from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

And you can celebrate Dia de Los Muertos at the Mexican Museum with a free family event Sunday, October 23 from noon to 4 p.m.

It's located at the Fort Mason Center where you can make a skull mask and celebrate departed loved ones.

This year's event should be especially moving as museum staff will acknowledge the passing of the museum's founder Peter Rodriguez.
