The much anticipated new show on the Disney Channel debuts Friday night and there's plenty of buzz.

Elena is a 16-year-old princess who saves her kingdom from an evil sorceress, but has to learn how to rule the lands before she can become queen.

We caught up with some of the stars on the red carpet.

"My favorite thing about Elena is that she's her own hero," said Aimee Carrero, voice of Elena. "There's no Prince Charming in this story and she's just someone trying to do her best, trying to become a leader."

The voice of Dona Paloma, Constance Marie, adds, "Finally the Latinos are included in the whole princess experience. I'm a third generation Mexican American and this is sort of the show I wish I had grown up watching."

The show hopes to inspire kids how to become leaders.

You can catch the special one hour premiere at 7 p.m. on the Disney Channel.
