Enjoy a Free Ice Cream Sandwich in North Beach
The Baked Bear has had a following in SoCal since 2013. Now it's the Bay Area's turn to enjoy their custom ice cream sandwiches. A new location just opened in North Beach at 303 Columbus Avenue.
Super-rich ice cream is scooped between two warm, chewy cookies, then it's rolled in sprinkles and drizzled with hot fudge.
The cookies are baked fresh daily by owner Emma Halloum. The Jordan-native says she's always dreamed of baking; now she wakes up at the crack of dawn to bake cookies from scratch every morning.
"When I see the enjoyment when they take a bite from the sandwich, it means everything. When my customers give me a thumbs up and they smile, it means everything because it's my hard work. This is everything I have, truly," said Halloum.
There are 10 cookie varieties to choose from. Halloum's favorite is the buttery snickerdoodle. She also says a very popular item is their warm glazed donut with coffee ice cream inside.
Halloum emphasizes that the cookies are made without preservatives and there are gluten free options.
The Baked Bear's new North Beach location has a special deal for ABC7 viewers this Saturday, July 9th. Go to 303 Columbus Avenue at 1pm, the first 100 ice cream sandwiches are free.
See the SF Symphony for Free at the Stern Grove Festival
How does being serenaded among the eucalyptus trees sound? The San Francisco Symphony will perform with conductor Edwin Outwater at the Stern Grove Festival on Sunday, July 10th from 2-4pm. The conductor will participate in an "Artist Talk" starting at noon.
The Stern Grove Festival began in 1938, and boasts the title of the oldest admission-free summer performing arts festival in the U.S. It takes place in Sigmund Stern Grove at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard. To look at the program and reserve your seat, click here.
Kids go Free to Classic Looney Tunes at The Roxie
See Bugs Bunny and Pepe Le Pew on the big screen this weekend! Many of us are nostalgic about Saturday morning cartoons, but seeing them at a historic San Francisco cinema certainly kicks it up a notch.
It's part of The Roxie's "Popcorn for Breakfast" program in the Mission District. The theater says you'll see genuine 35mm prints of Warner Brothers cartoons from their carbon-arc projector. It's Saturday, July 9th from 11am-12:30pm. Children under 12 go free, admission for Kids 12 and over is $8.00. To see more, click here.
