SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Iconic Bay Area rock radio DJ Steven Seaweed is hanging up his microphone on Friday after four decades on the airwaves. Seaweed is known to generations of hard core rock fans as "The Weedman."

While he was in the middle of his show on Thursday, Seaweed got the word that he'll be inducted into the Bammie's Walk of Fame in front of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. He later said one of his favorite memories is hanging out with listeners on free food Fridays.

"We had a live studio audience and I fed them, how 'bout that. And you can't beat free food. So we'd have 15-20 people in there and I always loved having a live audience. You know the listeners they're the ones who do it for me," he said.

Seaweed says his final show will be all requests. And he won't forget to drop his signature line: "You're rockin' with the Weedman."
