Beautiful photo of bride breastfeeding during her wedding goes viral
When Christina Torino-Benton's 9-month-old daughter, Gemma started crying in the middle of her wedding ceremony, Torino-Benton knew exactly what to do. She sat down in the front pew, lowered her gown and started breastfeeding.
Wedding photographer Lana Nimmons took a photo of the beautiful moment.
"No one was surprised, not even the priest," said Nimmons. "Christina has always fed her baby when needed, and at one point or another we have all seen her feed Gemma."
Torino-Benton submitted the image to the Breastfeeding Mama Talk Facebook page with the caption, "That moment when you're getting married and your baby gets hungry ;) feeling SO proud of myself! Fighting that good fight!"
Within a few days, the photo received more than 8,000 likes.
"Gemma was very hungry," said Nimmons. "I asked Christina if she would like to do her bridal portraits while nursing. She said yes, and I saw in her eyes how happy she was."
The photos have inspired other women to share pictures of themselves breastfeeding on their wedding day.
