SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- There wasn't much down time for the maternity staff at the new UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital when it opened on Sunday morning in San Francisco's Mission Bay.

That's because two minutes later, Nancy Price and her husband Vladimir Ramirez walked in, and Price was in labor.

They had been at the old Parnassus campus waiting for the birth of their son, but then had to rush over to the new hospital once the staff started to move Sunday morning.

"We went to bed that night thinking that we made it and we don't have to worry about the Feb. 1 move," he said. "Twenty minutes after I feel asleep she woke me up and was like, 'hey, we gotta go.'"

Paolo is the first baby born at the new UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco, Calif.

Little Paolo was born four hours later.

Dad was happy the maternity rooms at the new hospital have big screen televisions. They were perfect for watching the Super Bowl with his new baby.
