SAN RAFAEL -- All lanes are open this morning on U.S. Highway 101 just north of North San Pedro Road in San Rafael after a fatal crash Wednesday night, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

At 3:31 a.m. today CHP officials announced that all lanes were open to traffic and a Sig-alert was canceled.

The crash was reported just after 10 p.m. Wednesday and involved a big-rig that struck the center divide and caught fire, CHP officials said.

The Sig-alert was issued at 10:37 p.m. because all northbound lanes were closed, and three of the southbound lanes were blocked due to debris in the roadway, CHP officials said.

CHP officials said that at least one person died in the crash.
