SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A young orphan girl in San Jose is throwing a birthday party Sunday, but it's not just about cake and ice cream.

Kris Dufala just turned 11 last week, and she's already helping children all over the world.

She was adopted from an orphanage in the Philippines, and is now on a crusade to bring smiles to the faces of orphans everywhere.

She founded a non-profit called "Sweets for the Holidays," which raises money to send treats to the orphans.

Kris' mother, Lirio Dufala, is the CEO and deals with logistics so Kris can stick to handling fundraising and outreach.

"It's beyond me what she has started," Lirio said.

Sunday's party is called "Tea for Smiles," a celebration and fundraiser for an orphanage Kris plans to build in her homeland.
