Truck slams into high voltage transformer at the Great Mall in Milpitas

MILPITAS, Calif. (KGO) -- A man is hospitalized after slamming his truck into a high voltage transformer at the Great Mall overnight, knocking out power to a number of stores.

The high voltage transformer runs about 21,000 volts, according to mall security.

The collision initially caused roughly 10 to 15 stores to lose power and an oil spill, security said. Power has since been restored.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol led to the crash.

No alcohol or drugs at play.
