Eating an avocado a day could extend your life. A new study found people who ate an avocado every day as part of a moderate fat diet reduced their bad cholesterol by 10 percent.

The findings also suggest that by throwing in a little extra avocado in your diet, you could lower your risk of heart disease.

Researchers say avocados are a better fat food than some other fats, and can be part of a heart healthy diet.

The Hass Avocado Board helped fund the study, but the researchers say the organization played no other role in the findings.
