The Centers for Disease Control is revealing that fertility is at an all-time low in the U.S.

A new survey provided exclusively to Good Morning America may help shed light on some of the reasons why.

According to the survey, age is a major factor. Specifically, the CDC says the fertility rate is going down for women under the age of 30.

Healthline conducted a survey asking millennial why they're waiting to have children.

"According to the survey, the top 2 reasons for delaying parenthood among Millennials is financial security. It costs a lot of money and career aspirations. Also we have to remember it's not just women, recent studies about male fertility show their rates globally are dropping and so it takes two," said Dr. Jennifer Ashton.

One of the studies Dr. Ashton is referring to is a new analysis showing sperm counts in western countries have decreased by half in recent years.

Researchers believe modern lifestyle factors may have something to do with it, including exposure to man-made chemicals.
