Warnings of unsafe levels of E. coli at Santa Cruz beach

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KGO) -- There's a warning out about a popular beach consistently ranked one of the dirtiest on the West Coast.

Cowell Beach in Santa Cruz has unsafe levels of E. coli.

That's according to the latest county water quality tests.

The area extends from west of the Wharf to the east end of the Dream Inn.

The dirty beach ranking comes from the nonprofit water quality group Heal the Bay.
