SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A recall has been issued for a smoke alarm sold across the U.S.

Kidde wants consumers to replace its model P-1 20-10 and P-1 90-10 smoke alarms. They have a defect that can prevent them from detecting smoke.

You can check to see if your smoke alarm is affected by looking for a yellow cap inside the device.
