MARIN, Calif. (KGO) -- It's been a wet week for firefighters in Marin County as they are being tossed around by wind and surf, so that if someone gets into a bind, they'll have a fighting chance at saving their life.

Along a four-mile stretch near Tomales last year, the agency made 77 rescues, but there were 14 others they couldn't save.
