Firefighters monitor hot spots after Oakland Hills homes catch fire
Fire officials continue to fight and monitor a blaze that broke out in the Oakland Hills just before Midnight Tuesday.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Fire officials continue to fight and monitor a blaze that broke out in the Oakland Hills just before Midnight Tuesday.

Firefighters positioned themselves to fight smoke and embers. They remain an issue in the area near Snake Road and Colton Boulevard where a home under construction caught fire, spreading to other homes.

Fire trucks are blocking several streets nearby and officials have no estimated time of completion for the monitoring. Please avoid the area.

Evacuations on nearby streets left some neighbors to seek shelter at nearby Montclair Elementary School.
