A Napa man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit and run resulting in death, police said.

Russell Lee Wyant, 54, is the registered owner of a Volkswagen Beetle implicated in the hit-and-run death of Michael Daniel Green.

Green, 54, was walking in the area of Monarch Drive and Byway East at around 2:15 a.m. Friday when he was hit, police said.

Green was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where he later died, according to police.

Police had asked the public for help finding the 2014 silver Beetle with a license plate reading 7EFY913.

Two callers reported seeing the Beetle on Interstate Highway 80, heading into Vallejo. California Highway Patrol officers responded and stopped Wyant and transported him to Napa, where he was booked into the Napa County Dept. of Corrections, police said.
