Warriors spend day off giving back to East Oakland school
OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Both NBA Finals teams got a break from basketball and the Warriors used it as a chance to give back and help out a school in East Oakland.
Some lucky students from a school in East Oakland got to meet some of the Warriors. The NBA also donated a live, learn and play zone to the school.

If he ever leaves the Warriors, Shaun Livingston may have a career in engineering. On Friday, the 6-foot-7 point guard left a lasting impression on many kids from East Oakland Pride Elementary.
"I'm sure the kids watch the games and they see us on TV, but just to be tangible and come out here talk to the kids, interact with the kids is special," Livingtson said.

Livingston and some of his teammates came to open a new NBA Cares live, learn and play zone at the school.
A beautiful outdoor basketball court was added. The NBA also refurbished the school library, making it a place where kids can come to expand what they learn in the classroom. There is also a science, and technology multi-purpose room.
"It's lively, it's colorful and it really makes children gravitate to come to those classrooms and do some exciting work," said the school's principal Clara Roberts.
Some of the Warriors star players took time from their busy practice schedule to bring some joy and excitement to these kids. The NBA says this is how the Warriors leave a lasting legacy for children and families of East Oakland.

"It says so much about this team that in the middle of the series you have so many players here who wanted to be part of this," said NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
"I'm very proud of my school to have this equipment and being with the Warriors is very exciting," said Laura Apaldtti, a student.
To date, the NBA has donated more than 1,000 of these live, learn and play spaces.
