The suspects crashed and overturned at Fremont Avenue and El Camino Real in Sunnyvale, after hitting five parked cars and a pole. Before it reached there, it was clocked doing more than 100 miles per hour on the highways and 70 to 80 miles per hour on the city streets.
"Due to the nature of the crime we had to stop these guys before they hurt somebody. So, unfortunately it was them who ended up getting hurt. But luckily no one else was injured in this case," said Art Montiel, CHP spokesman.

The passenger, an 18-year-old from San Francisco, died at the scene. The driver had minor injuries. The CHP identified him as 19-year-old Zain Dadabhai, also from San Francisco. He was booked into jail on several charges, including vehicular manslaughter.
Becca Jones owns The Patio. The bar was still open at the time of the crash. Five damaged cars belong to her customers and workers. Jones is relieved this didn't happen at closing time.

"It would have been terrible probably. People would've been in their cars. Turned out okay I guess. Nobody was injured that we know," said Jones.
Jones said they put in yellow poles after a car crashed into the bar 20 years ago. It looks like they worked this morning as well.
