DANVILLE, Calif. (KGO) -- Costco shoppers in Danville got a scare Monday night when three men with hammers entered the store around closing time and smashed their way into a jewelry case.

Police say one of the suspects acted as a lookout while the other two smashed the jewelry case. Two suspects got away with loot but store employees were able to tackle one man and hold him down until police arrived. He was identified as 21-year-old Kesean Edwards of Oakland.

Danville Police don't recommend tackling a suspect but in this case, it led to an arrest.

Shoppers were horrified the robbery happened in their local store.

The crime is similar to an armed robbery in Walnut Creek on April 20th where three men matching the same descriptions as Mondays, dressed as construction workers robbed a watch store until they were chased off when the owner pointed a gun at them.

The suspects in that incident smashed the watch display case with hammers.

Danville police are now investigating if the crimes are possibly related.
