SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- For the third year in a row, Apple and Google have landed in the top spots for the world's most valuable brands.

The consultancy firm Interbrand released its list on Sunday.

To make its decision on which companies are the most valuable, they look at financial performance and how competitively the companies stand in the market.

Apple landed in the top spot once again and Google is second.

Some other companies on the list are Microsoft, IBM, Samsung, Amazon and Facebook.

A total of 28 out of the 100 companies Interbrand lists are technology companies, comprising more than a third of the total value. No other industry has such a strong showing in the rankings.
