CHP arrests Watsonville man accused of selling stolen Corvette

APTOS, Calif. (KGO) -- The California Highway Patrol arrested a Watsonville man accused of selling a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette he is accused of stealing.

The California Highway Patrol was contacted by the DMV when the victim tried registering the stolen car.

The suspect, Jesse Chmelicek, impersonated the legal owner of the stolen Corvette when the transaction happened.

The CHP said the car was taken during a burglary in Aptos and has since been reunited with its rightful owner.

However, the victim who bought the car is out $25,000.
