2016 Oscar Nominations announced

LOS ANGELES (KGO) -- We're getting closer to Hollywood's biggest night! The nominations for the 88th annual Academy Awards were announced from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills Thursday morning.

This year John Krasinski, Guillermo del Toro, Ang Lee, and Academy President Cheryl Boone read the nominations.

The Oscars take place on Feb. 28 and will air live on ABC7 with Chris Rock returning to host. The comedian previously hosted in 2005.
