Police investigating fatal shooting in North Richmond

NORTH RICHMOND, Calif. -- A 26-year-old man died after being shot early Sunday morning in the North Richmond community of unincorporated Contra Costa County, sheriff's officials said.



Sheriff's Office dispatchers received reports at 1:45 a.m. of shots fired in the area of Fred Jackson Way and Market Avenue.



Sheriff's officials learned that the 26-year-old man was shot at that location and he went Richmond Medical Center in Richmond where he died.



Sheriff's officials said they are not releasing the name of the victim. Deputies located the shooting scene and are conducting an investigation.
