Retired Chicago bus driver wins $2M lottery prize while riding bus

CHICAGO -- A retired bus driver from Chicago won just became a millionaire. Ironically, found out he won $2 million in a scratch-off game while riding the bus.

Roy Pittman, 71, was on the bus when he decided to see if he'd win anything playing $2,000,000 Jumbo Bucks, a $10 instant ticket, the Illinois Lottery said. As it turns out, he won the top prize.

"I was on the bus going home from the store when I scratched my ticket. When I realized I won $2,000,000, I started shaking!" he said.

Pittman has lived in Chicago his entire life. He plans to share his winnings with his family and donate a portion to charity, lottery officials said.

He bought his winning ticket at Vincennes Food Mart at 400 West 79th Street on Chicago's South Side. The store will receive $20,000, or 1 percent of the prize, for selling the winning scratch-off, officials said.

Pittman had this advice for other people hoping to win the lottery: "Try a ticket, because you just never know."
