ROME (KGO) -- An artist got an early holiday gift from one of her heroes, Bay Area native Tom Hanks.

Denise Esposito met hanks last month and gave him a Moleskine sketchbook with images of his filmography inside as a gift.

Esposito is a mixed media artist and draws from pop culture, movies and music for inspiration. Images of Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles and many other iconic celebrities litter her Facebook page, a showcase of her talents. She has been a long time fan of Hanks' work and lives in Rome.

She shared this image on Facebook when she initially met the Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient in October:

A month passed and Esposito was greeted by FedEx Tuesday with a package. Hanks is notably an avid collector of vintage typewriters.

Esposito took to Facebook again to express her happiness, "How amazing life is when your favorite actor sends you a typewriter and a thank you letter? How unbelievably cool is that?"

Hanks was born in Concord, CA and attended Skyline high school in Oakland.
