SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose police officers teamed up with other agencies to kick off a summer reading camp for 25 third graders on Monday.

ABC7 News was at Santee Elementary School as the students got ready to work on their reading skills.

Shop with a Cop Foundation put the program together for under-served kids in the community.

The foundation revealed more than 80-percent of children from low-income families have difficulty reading by third grade.

Our parent company Disney is helping to fund the program.
