SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Three people are being treated for serious injuries after a deck collapsed in San Francisco Sunday evening.

It happened at 5:30 p.m. at a home on Vienna Street in the Excelsior District.

They were taking pictures out on the deck during a birthday party when the railing gave way, dropping them 20 feet to the concrete below.

All three had head injuries and one had a broken hip and arm.

The building inspector said the railing had rotted.
